Official website: http://www.monkees.com/

The Monkees are an American rock band that released music under its original incarnation between 1966 and 1970, with subsequent reunion albums and tours in the decades that followed. Assembled in Los Angeles in 1965 by Robert "Bob" Rafelson and Bert Schneider for the American television series The Monkees, which aired from 1966–1968, the musical acting quartet was composed of Americans Micky DolenzMichael Nesmith, andPeter Tork, and Englishman Davy Jones. The band's music was initially supervised by producer Don Kirshner.
Described by band member Micky Dolenz as initially being "a TV show about an imaginary band [...] that wanted to be The Beatles, [but] that was never successful",[1] the actor-musicians soon became a real band. As Dolenz would later describe it, "The Monkees really becoming a band was like the equivalent of Leonard Nimoy really becoming a Vulcan."[2]... read more

Bobby Darin

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Darin

Bobby Darin (May 14, 1936 – December 20, 1973), born Walden Robert Cassotto, was an American singer, actor and musician.
Darin performed in a range of music genres, including pop, rock, jazz, folk and country. Although unknown to the public, his health was dangerously fragile and strongly motivated him to succeed within the limited lifetime he feared he would, and ultimately did, have.
In 1960 after romancing singer Connie Francis, and being run out of the house by her strict Italian father, with a shotgun, breaking her heart, Darin married "Gidget" actress Sandra Dee, whom he met while making his first film Come September (1961). They made a few more movies together at Universal Studios that were moderately successful. They had one son, Dodd Mitchell Darin (also known as Morgan Mitchell Darin) before divorcing in 1967.
He was also an actor, singer/songwriter and music business entrepreneur. His wish for a legacy was "to be remembered as a human being and as a great performer."[1] Among his many other contributions, he became a goodwill ambassador for the American Heart Association... read more

Heart is an American rock band who first found success in Canada.[1][2][3] Throughout several lineup changes, the only two members remaining constant are sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson. The group rose to fame in the 1970s with their music being influenced by hard rock as well as folk music. After diminishing in popularity for a couple of years in the early 80s, the band enjoyed a comeback in 1985, experiencing further successes with their power ballads and pop hits into the 90s.
Over their four-decade career, Heart has had chart successes with songs in genres ranging from hard rock and metal to folk rock. With Jupiter's Darling (2004) and Red Velvet Car (2010), Heart made a return to their hard rock/acoustic roots of the late 70s. To date, Heart has sold over 35 million albums worldwide.[citation needed] Heart was ranked #57 on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock READ MORE

Years active: from 1970 - present.

America is an English-American folk rock band, composed originally of members Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell, and Dan Peek. Their recording success was almost entirely throughout the 1970s; some of the band's best known songs are "A Horse with No Name", "Sister Golden Hair" (both of which reached #1), "Ventura Highway", "Tin Man", "Daisy Jane", and "Lonely People"... read more
